    Herb's Description

    Gardinia gummifera Linn.f.. Small, tree, up to 3m. High. Leaves: Obovate-oblong or elliptic-oblong, sessile glabrous, acute at base, stipules ochrea-like Flowers: White, scented, on short peduncle or sessile, calyx teeth triangular, pubescent; Corolla tube pubescent outside. Fruit: oblong with numerous ribs. Flowering and fruiting: March-August.
    Gardinia gummifera Linn.f.'s Gum. A shrub about 1.8 m high, glabrous or nearly so, unarmed, buds resinous. Leaves sessile or nearly so, 4.5-7 by 2-2.5 cm; elliptic-oblong, or obovate-oblong, obtuse or subacute, glabrous, shining base obtuse,' acute or sometime cordate; main nerves 12-18 pairs; stipules connate truncate or mucronate. Flowers non-odourous, subsessile, 1-3 together. Calyx 1 cm long, dense\y pubescent; teeth triangular, 2-3 mm long. Corolla at first white, soon changing to yellow; tube pubescent outside, 3.2-3.8 cm long; lobes oblong, obtuse, 2.5-3.2 by 1.3-1.6 cm. Fruit 2.5-3.8 cm long, oblong or ellipsoid, with numerous longitudinal elevated lines and with a stout beak, smooth; pericarp thin; placentae 4-5 (21). The leaf buds and young shoots ot this species yield a resinous exudation known as Dikamali or Cambi gum, which is transparent, greenish yellow
